The Albertina's library is a historically grown collection of art historical reference books, with a special focus on drawing, printmaking and the history of photography. Thanks to its comprehensive and constantly updated collection of exhibition catalogues, our library also reflects national and international exhibition activities and additionally holds a unique selection of past auction catalogues and illustrated books (artits' books).
Furthermore, the library offers access to the historical book collections on photography and reproduction techniques of the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt Wien, which are kept on permanent loan in the Albertina and processed in cooperation with the Photoinstitut BONARTES.
Everyone interested in using the library is admitted free of charge and without prior registration. Holdings can be researched in advance to your visit. The requested media (books, periodicals, CD-ROMs, etc.) will immediately be delivered to the desks in the study hall.
Books and periodicals published after 1930 may be scanned free of charge. It is also possible to order photographs.
